In addition to the Tropical House in the Marco Polo Stufano Conservatory, Wave Hill Gardener Will Wallace also tends the Elliptical Garden, Lilac Border and Myrica Slope below the Pergola, as well as the balustrade areas surrounding it.

The white bat plant (Tacca nivea) has been in bloom for about a week in the tropical house. It should stick around until Friday, so if you have a moment you might want to take a look.
If the thought of stepping in to the heat is too much you will have another chance since it usually blooms two or three times a year.

Today, I walked through the Flower Garden and was most excited to see a Hummingbird Moth–UP CLOSE! The moth’s velvet-looking, sparkling chartreuse, crimson and brown abdomen stood out. I was amazed how it mimicked the ruby-throated hummingbird. Its wings fluttered just as fast as a fan on full speed. Look out for them in the butterfly bushes with many other winged wonders.
